If you’re like most people, you likely do a deep spring cleaning each year to make your home fresh for the new season. While spring cleaning is important, it’s important to do a deep clean of your home in the fall as well. Here are a few things to include in your fall cleaning.
- Time to donate: With the gift-giving season coming shortly after fall begins, a fall cleaning is a perfect time to sort through your belongings and find things you can donate instead of shoving them to the back of your closet. That way, you can make room for the new items you’ll receive for the holidays.
- Clean all the hotspots for dust and germs: Over the summer, your home likely collected lots of dust on the fan blades, behind the stove and fridge, and on top of light fixtures. It’s important that your fall cleaning involves cleaning these forgotten dusty areas, so your home won’t be even more dusty as the weather cools. You’ll also want to focus on deep cleaning the germy areas, like door handles, the remote, light switches, etc.
- Clean windows and windowsills: Over the summer, you might have had a few insects try to creep in through the windows to find some respite from the hot weather. You might find that when you open the window to let in some of that crisp fall air, you have an ugly collection of dead bugs inside the windowsill. That’s why it’s so important to include window and windowsill cleaning in your fall cleaning checklist.
